Statistics report that the Chinensis kiwi is the most important among the varieties introduced in cultivation over the past 100 years. Until not long ago the Chinensis kiwi was identified with the Deliciosa group of Hayward kiwi. Nowadays, as well as the traditional kiwi with green flesh, the Chinensis species, or kiwi with yellow flesh, is also becoming more and more popular.
We are here to introduce it to you:

(OGM FREE) KIWIGOLD-JINTAO
It is a sweet and juicy variety, the flesh reminds you of the colour of the sun; energetic and special … The right alternative when looking for a fruit that both adults and children can enjoy.
Thanks to its ideal antioxidant properties, it leaves the colour and taste unchanged during processing, making it suitable for the industrial process.

KIWIGOLD CONSORTIUM
Thanks to the will of some farmers, Kiwigold Consortium was founded in 2001 in order to market the new variety of kiwi with yellow flesh. The choice to unite was made after the acquisition of the patent released by the Botanical Institute of Moshan Wuhan City (China), the first one to select this fruit.
Kiwigold Consortium gained the worldwide exclusivity for this cultivar with an exotic name, Jintao.
Kiwigold Consortium runs the production, harvesting, processing, promotion and commercialisation on the global market of this exceptional fruit with many organoleptic properties: it is very rich in vitamin C (the content is much higher than in the green Hayward variety) and vitamin E. Its flavour, the high sugar degree and the right acidity gives this fruit an exclusive taste.

FRUIT
The fruit is perfectly cylindrical in shape. Its size is medium (average weight 80/130gr). The skin is hazel and gives full protection against abrasion from wind, transportation and handling. The central core is white, tiny and not very fibrous. It does not grow in bunches and the fruits are not jammed. The flesh colour, which is light yellow at harvest, at ripening time takes on a more intense, fragrant and consistent tone. The vitamin C content varies from 150 to 180 mg/100gr (twice more than the Hayward variety). Sugar goes from 15° to 17° Brix, that is from 2 to 4 per cent more than the Hayward variety. At harvest, the skin hardness is more than 6-7 Kg/sqcm, which prevents the fly (Ceratitis Capitata) from attacking the fruit before harvesting.
It is harvested within the first 15 days of October (15 to 25 days ahead of the Hayward variety). It ripens from the inside out, the fruit is never to fibrous and even when very ripe it maintains a pleasant flavour. It can be preserved in the refrigerator in perfect condition for over 6 months. In fact, its shelf life is higher than the Hayward variety.

PLANT
Once cultivated, the Jintao cultivar has shown the following characteristics:
•Less vigorous compared to Hayward variety, close internodes, single fruits.
•Very quick fruit production beginning 2 years after planting. Similar budding activity to the Hayward variety, but 2 or 3 days earlier.
•Flowers 6-7 days than the Hayward variety (recommended pollinators Belen and Moshan 4).
•Normal bud blossoming is around 90% (on average 60% in Hayward)
•It requires only few hours of cold (300-400 hours). It sprouts well and can easily produce fruits in the South. It does not need anti-dormancy products.
•The recommended growing conditions are:
•Canopy 4,5/5 m between rows x 2/2,5 m in the row.
•Trellis 4/5 m between rows x 1,5/2,5 m in the row.

ADVANTAGES FOR GROWERS
•Earlier harvest than the Hayward variety (- 15/25 days).
•Higher production than the Hayward variety.
•Easier management (easier pruning, less care needs, single and homogeneous fruits).
•High fertility and budding
•Easier pollination (500-600 seeds per high size fruit).
•Low cold requirements.
•Less risks of crop rotation
