Brief History

The Kiwigold Consortium was founded 40 years ago by Umberto Neri,who began a nationally based commercial activity. Subsequently, this activity developed into a European and international brand thanks to his sons: Patrizio, Mauro and Maurizio.

The continuous development of this company has always been conveyed by great innovation which allows it to have avant-garde systems of conservation and packaging. Such as the company’s organisation that always aims for quality.

Quality innovation and project planning are the distinctive features of this Consortium’s history:


• Growers’ united into a public limited consortium company in order to achieve full control of product division and applying for EEC opportunities in agriculture (first of all CMO);


• The creation of “Agri.Lab”, which is a laboratory for analysis and a service company for agriculture (quality certifications and technical assistance);


• The formation of the “Solonatura” retail Consortium with other farms, provides farmers with advantages that they can gain from each other by being able to offer a broader range of products;

• Patent acquisition, together with other partners, for the production and the commercialisation of a new kiwi with yellow flesh (kiwigold) and exceptional characteristics. The patent from 2005 has been extended to the global marketplace in order to guarantee absolute control of this very interesting product.

 






All of these steps along with the continuous adaptation of their structures have made this company great and has allowed it to have a solid foundation in the fruit and vegetable market, that looks towards the future.

 

 


 


Who We Are

The Frutteto Consortium is made up of 150 partners, located in the whole of Italy, growers of strawberries, green beans, apricots, plums, peaches, nectarines, Hayward kiwi and Jintao kiwi (the yellow flesh variety), pears, apples, lotus, melons, watermelons.

The headquarters of our company is located in Cesena (FC), while other harvesting bases are in Bulgarnò (Emilia Romagna), Policoro (Basilicata), Latina (Latium), San Ferdinando (Puglia).

The processing plant covers an area of 5.300 sqm over a total surface of 15.500 sqm; refrigerating capacity is of 3,600 tons; packaging capacity is 150 tons per day.





The Frutteto Consortium is certified “ISO 9000”, “EUREPGAP”, and “BRC”. It provides the most modern machineries for fruit and vegetables (both conventional and biological) processing, selection and packaging .The consortium commercially operates in all the major European markets. Its business and sales organisation is able to satisfy the most up to date requests of any distribution channel.

Furthermore, the Frutteto Consortium is the founding member and the authorised distributor for the “Kiwigold Consortium”. The latter has the exclusive use, on the global market, in which it holds the patent for production and commercialisation of the “Jintao” kiwi, a new variety of kiwi with yellow skin, a sweeter taste and exceptional vitamin c properties.
